The Architecture of Distance

The Architecture of Distance is a 22-work body of work exploring the emotional space between attraction and understanding.
Relationships often begin with possibility. A glance lingers. A conversation remains in memory. Curiosity grows into attachment. Yet what develops between people is shaped as much by what remains unspoken as by what is revealed.
Throughout the collection, figures navigate the complexities of connection. Longing exists beside hesitation. Vulnerability meets self-protection. Moments of closeness are interrupted by uncertainty, misunderstanding, and the fear of being fully seen.
Beginning with Peripheral, attraction enters awareness. Conversation explores the search for emotional safety. Friendship holds the ambiguity of an undefined bond. Push and Pull examines cycles of approach and retreat. Hiding explores concealment and self-preservation, while Unseen asks what remains invisible when assumptions replace understanding.
Across the collection, fragmented faces and layered surfaces become metaphors for the complexity of human experience. The figures remain whole, even when viewers can see only pieces of them.
While inspired by a specific emotional journey, The Architecture of Distance expands into a broader reflection on human connection. The collection asks how people can feel profoundly drawn toward one another while remaining partially unknowable and what is lost when possibility never becomes clarity.
